Steadying the Ark of God by : Loraine Howard-Browne A wave of revival is sweeping through the world. For many it is a time of great joy and refreshing, but many do not understand the purpose of this move of God. The focus is often on the laughter and the manifestations that take place during revival meetings. It all seems to be frivolous and superficial, but God is doing a deep work in the lives of many. Throughout history people have prayed for revival, but when God moved, it did not always come in the manner they expected. Yes, many are coming to know Jesus as their Savior, marriages are being restored, families reunited, sick bodies healed, people in bondage set free. But, the revival is also sorting the church. The Israelites took the Ark of God into battle with them as a symbol of the presence of God. In II Samuel 6 we read that when David had fetched the Ark of the Lord, he and all Israel rejoiced before the Lord. When revival comes and we begin to see and feel God's presence, there is much rejoicing in the church The Bibles says God dwells in the praises of His people. The more we praise and worship the Lord, the stronger His presence becomes. As God's power touches human flesh, we react in different ways, and the more intense God's presence becomes, the less we see of our idea of order in the meetings. As David and his men came to Nachon's threshing floor, Uzzah thought if best to steady the ark. The threshing floor is the place to sift the chaff from the wheat. The revival is God's threshing- floor. He is sorting His church. The anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah because he tried to steady the Ark of the Lord. Do not try to steady the hand of God.
