| 1 John 1:9 declares "If we confess
our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness."
What an awesome reality. We sin and can make it right with our God by confessing to Him what He already knows. Can you imagine a law in this world that says . . . if you rob a bank and then go to the police and confess it, you will be forgiven. We would have a lot of Christian bank robbers. No, there are earthly consequences for doing wrong. But in terms of eternity, we have a loving and forgiving God who applies Grace and Mercy to us. We have the shed blood of Jesus on the cross of calvary, to wash us and make us clean. In fact the bible says ". . . we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous" 1 John 2:1 Jesus will actually plead our case before the Father. God hates sin but loves the sinner and confession is the method He uses to get the record straight. When we confess, He forgives unconditionally.
